Sociology Survey Update [07 Dec 2004|05:38pm]

hematomaalice
For those who signed up for the Sociology surveys, the surveys are finished.

For those who are running across this the first time, feel free to take the survey.

Just a little info:
My group has created a survey for our sociology project. Our question is "Does substance use help create art, if not better art?" (By substance, we mean mind-altering such as alcohol, marijuana, ect. Even though technically coffee and cigarettes could fall under a substance, we aren't including them in our research).

Here are the survey links. Choose the one that applies to you.
Non-Artist (Non User)

Non-Artist (User/Former)

Artist (User/Former)

Feel free to reply to this post if you have any questions or let us know you took the survey.

Thanks again guys for helping some starving college students in
getting a good grade.

Sociology Survey Update [20 Nov 2004|05:02pm]

hematomaalice
Thanks to all who signed up! The survey should be up in the next few days.

We are currently looking for more non-artists (of both catergories). Also, there is a new sub-category for former users (both artists and non-artists). Please feel free to let us know if you want to take the survey. I will also post it on livejournal for everyone to take.

I am currently looking for more subjects for an experiment. This is exclusively for substance user artists:

The experiment is a "before" and "after" comparision. Whether it is painting, music, or silkscreening, we need your help.

I want to document your performance before substance use and after substance use. Your performance may be recorded throught photographs, copies of your pieces, audio, and or videotape (you have a choice to not be on videotape or audio, I understand your privacy. However, those on video will not be revealed to anyone; no names, no showing of your face or specific parts of your body that make you recognisable to others, and possibly no talking). Please e-mail me at therulesofemotronics@gmail.com to let me know if you are interested.

Again, thanks everyone!

hematomaalice
Art Books Press Exhibition

Zines : A Bite Size Sampling From Around the U.S.
Opening Reception : Saturday November 13, 2004, 6-9pm
Exhibition runs through December 31, 2004

Beginning with science fiction fanzines from the 1930's, this show provides a look into the world of zines and the people who make them. Highlighted in the show are rare works by Hugo Gernback (Amazing Stories), Henry Rollins from Black Flag, and the Seattle based artists' publication from the mid 1980's, "Pounding Waves" which includes contributions from Faye Jones, Alfred Harris, and Gene Gentry McMahon among others.

Also included in the show are a wide range of contemporary art zines, political publications, punk fanzines, comix, literary magazines, DIY zines and more. Some of the work includes zines by Lev (Tales of Mere Existence), artnoose (Ker-Bloom!), Shawn Bishop (Travelin' Man), Jeffrey Brown (Be a Man), and Rachel Mason (eaten-alive). Books on how to make your own zine, the psychology of zines, zine reviews and resources and a variety of zines from all over the U.S. are included in the exhibition and are for sale.

Hello fellow nice kids. I was wondering if y'all could help me out with something. For Halloween I've decided to be a hipster/scenester. I already have the outfit picked out but I don't know how to do my hair/make-up. I have really blonde, short hair so I'm not sure if I should do the eyeliner and shadow to the extreme like most hipster ladies do. I have posted a cartoon facsimile of myself to give you some idea of what I have to work with. Thank you for any help you have to offer.

Hey everyone,

I'm not sure I can moderate this community anymore. I don't spend nearly enough time on the net anymore for that kind of thing. But: it has been a pleasure. Thanks all for joining + getting into it in general.

That said, anyone want to take over the job of moderating?

Let me know.

Regards,
Adrian

"Your not cool unless you pee your pants" [02 Oct 2004|07:26am]

sweetheartdeath
[ mood | optimistic ]

"If peeing your pants is cool then I'm Miles Davis"

Unfortunately I couldn't put either myself, my fiance, or friends on the list... thats called cheating.

The COOL list:
1.Brad Pitt
2.Timothy Olyphant
3.Gavin Rossdale
4.The character Vincent (as played by Kip Pardue)
5.AJay Popoff (Lit)
6.Eminem
7.Vin Diesel
8.Jack White
9.The 5.6.7.8's
10.Jet Li
11.(yes eleven, why the hell not?) Ethan Embry

If you don't know who any of the above are you are not only not cool you are stupid and thats just too bad.
If you can name at least three movies, books, or songs by or with the above named celebrities then you are indeed cool... if you cant, well keep workin at it and maybe you can qualify to be cool next year.
